Doric - The Language of North East Scotland
A TAEZALI TIPPENCE
![[A Taezali Tippence]](images/taezbook.jpg)
The
title of this little book of poems is taken from the name of the
Pictish tribe (The Taezali) who inhabited the area more than two
thousand years ago. Contained within the book are some humourous
poems and some more reflective ones.
At £2.50 (+pp) it is on sale throughout the area and from myself
by contacting me at my e-mail address.
A few
of the pieces were first published in the Aberdeenshire Councils'
Arts magazine 'The Broken Fiddle'. BBC radio Scotland also
featured the book on their Sunday morning show 'The Reel Blend'
hosted by Robbie Shepherd.
The
book was favourably reviewed in the local press.
The Buchan Observer
"The preservation of the disappearing Doric dialect lies
principally at the hands of our talented writers and poets, which
gives 'A Taezali Tippence' added importance."
"Although the subject matter varies, a strong link is
retained making this work of particular relevance and
interest."
"A Taezali Tippence is well worth a read and, who knows, it
may even spark a mini Doric revival."
Here
are a few extracts from the book:
From "THE IYLMAN"
There's nivver a brak awa fae yer work
From "THE BISCUIT
TIN"

From "AAL FISHERMAN"
