BUCHAN - THE LAND OF THE BIG SKY
SCOTLAND'S BEST KEPT SECRET
|
The Buchan area of North East
Scotland is a land steeped in rich culture and heritage. You can
trace the work of our ancestors back for thousands of years.
There are sites of interest which date back to the Druids, the
Picts, Iron age through to the more recent Middle ages and
Victorian times.
It is an area which is also rich in natural beauty. For the golf
enthusiast, there are many first class courses (links and
parkland) to choose from. Peterhead Golf Club is the 17th oldest
golf club in the world and it's links course will challenge the
best. Anglers are also well catered for with several rivers and
fisheries in the area.
I hope to persuade you to come and visit our homeland someday by
using the pictures which can be accessed from this page and also
by the links to many other sites relating to the Buchan area.
This site will always be under construction but sit back and
enjoy the tour so far.
Mormond Hill is the highest point in Buchan at a 733 feet. Sited
on it's crest is the huge NATO and BT communications centres.
Mormond Hill has a large white horse made of stones laid out on
one side of the hill, while on the other side is a huge stag.
The beautiful rolling countryside of Buchan.
The North East Scotland Community Web
page gives many more interesting links sites relating to our
area. Find out more about the villages, business' and attractions
of the Buchan area.
Aden
Country Park in Mintlaw is a must for visitors to the area. Set
in the grounds of the ruined Aden Estate, it contains many
features including a fully working farm as it was in years gone
by. It has a visitors centre and heritage centre with theatre,
cinema and restaurant. The beautiful walks round the estate can
be enjoyed by young and old alike. There are also picnic areas
and play areas.
